Efficient Design Solutions for RTV Vojvodina’s New Control Rooms

In 2023, we received an interesting and quite demanding request from our long-term Serbian system integrator partner ProVideo d.o.o. The task was to design and deliver completely new control room furniture for RTV in Vojvodina, Serbia.

The broadcaster was in the process of modernizing its entire broadcast infrastructure, and as part of this renewal, the control rooms also required a full furniture upgrade. The project involved two production control rooms (PCRs) and their corresponding two audio control rooms, all of which needed custom-designed desks.

The layout of the PCRs presented a particular challenge. Due to the shape of the rooms, it was possible to place only a single continuous row of desks, which had to comfortably accommodate all operators. The final desk lengths were substantial—7.35 meters in one room and 6.35 meters in the other—ensuring that every operator had sufficient space to perform their tasks efficiently.

Another special requirement came from the central position of the large video switcher. To accommodate this without compromising the workspace of the other operators, we designed the desktop to be wider only in the section where the switcher was installed. This prevented unnecessary depth along the entire desk and gave the rest of the team more room behind their seating area, enhancing both comfort and movement.

The project also had to respect the physical limitations of the building itself. Access routes inside the facility made it impossible to transport large, fully assembled desk sections. Even a two-meter-long assembled module could not be moved into the control rooms. To overcome this, we engineered the desks in precisely designed modular parts, delivered them separately, and carried out the full assembly directly inside the control rooms.

Thanks to careful planning and close cooperation with our Serbian partner, we successfully met all requirements—combining ergonomics, functionality, and practicality in the final design. The result was a modern, operator-friendly workspace that seamlessly fits into RTV Vojvodina’s upgraded broadcast infrastructure.
